New IAPP ELISA for sensitive measurement of circulating IAPP

Mercodia has launched a new On-demand IAPP ELISA for the quantitative measurement of IAPP (islet amyloid polypeptide), also known as amylin, in human plasma samples.

With high sensitivity for low circulating IAPP concentrations, the assay is designed to support exploratory research in metabolic and cardiometabolic research, including studies of diabetes, obesity and gut-brain signaling.

The Mercodia IAPP ELISA is a two-site sandwich immunoassay using monoclonal antibodies targeting distinct epitopes on IAPP. The assay detects mature IAPP and has also demonstrated detection of the processing intermediate proIAPP(1-48), supporting a broader assessment of circulating IAPP. Further characterization may help clarify the relative reactivity of this and other proIAPP intermediates.

The assay is analytically characterized for exploratory research use and uses chemiluminescent detection. It requires only 50 µL of plasma sample and has an assay range of 0.412–100 pM, with a limit of detection of 0.197 pM.

Supporting research into IAPP and metabolic regulation

IAPP, or amylin, is a hormone co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic β-cells and plays an important role in glucose homeostasis, food intake and energy regulation. Its emerging role in metabolic health and gut-brain signaling makes sensitive measurement of circulating IAPP relevant to a growing range of research applications.

The new IAPP ELISA is available as an On-demand product, providing access to an assay outside Mercodia’s standard portfolio for research applications where flexibility and access are prioritized.
